Tech question

I'm trying to figure out how to get each post to have its own "address," so that when readers link to a specific post, it will show as a specific, named address - instead of every post showing as http://pegotty.blogspot.com.

Yikes. Does that make sense?

In any case, if you're a bit tech savvy, can you point me in the right direction to figure this out?

I've tried enabling Permalinks and republishing the index and blog, but no change - all posts keep showing as my blog URL.

The shawl looks great. I like the way the colors work together in the full-length shot, and it's a great pattern.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking about the urls for posts here. This post does have a unique url: http://pegotty.blogspot.com/2006/09/tech-question.html . I got that by clicking on the time down at the bottom where it says posted by JANET at 8:17 AM, which, granted, is completely unintuitive. Is there somewhere that it's not showing up where it should?

Ah ha, I forgot your expertise! Yes, it's not showing up when I look at Sitemeter data, for example. Or when I post a link back to the blog at another blog. If I'm trying to direct the reader to a specific posting (say on Icarus), my link seems instead to send the reader to the current first posting of the blog. Maybe the problem is that I'm not sure how to state the address for the post?

I've never dealt with Sitemeter so I don't know what would be going on there.

As far as directing people to specific posts... I'm not sure what you're doing currently, but this is one way that should work:

Open up the post itself rather than the front page of your blog. You can get there by clicking on the time or by clicking on the name of the post over in the sidebar, or possibly other ways which I haven't found.

The unique address for that post will be up in the bar at the top of the browser where you type in addresses you want to go to. (Address bar? I'm not sure of the terminology). It'll end in .html. Copy it, and paste it into your post/email/etc.

That's exactly what I did in my other comment. It's not pretty to look at, but it does work.

Make sense?c
